Self-Guided Tour

You can drive through or walk through the Stevens Street District. I recommend getting out of the car and walking. Look at the neighborhood as if it is an large living museum. You will see roads that lead to nowhere, suggesting they were once streets and lanes. There are steps that have no house. Imagine what that block might have been. Old houses are not just falling apart, they are artifacts. Imagine what they might have looked like when new. When you stop at the Good Shepherd Episcopal church, knock on the door to see if anyone is inside. If someone is there, ask to see the church and if possible will they take you upstairs to see the 2-room school. Ring the bell, it still works. Also, step in and look at the library. Enjoy.
